cheekstains.jpgCheek stains are nice to highlight cheeks bringing them to life and the best thing is that they tend to stay put for the rest of the day. Most women who prefer a no-makeup look are ideal for such applications and should be applied on the apples of the cheeks using the fingers in a circular motion. This should be applied quickly for they do dry quickly even without powder to dry them up. Some of the stuff on your lips also works for a minimalist look that does not overdo anything leaving you with a fresh natural look. Use bronzers for a tanned look rather than risk getting sunburned with the real thing. Use bronzer with a little pink coral color to the cheek apples for a life-giving glow.

cheekblush.jpgFor most people, powder blushes work miracles when used properly to liven your cheeks. Use a large powder brush to apply a pink coral shade that works with most faces. Apply to the apples of your cheeks and try to blend them in so as they do not look harsh. Banish lines and creases, by sweep brushing the temples and forehead to soften the blush getting them to blend with underlying make-up. A cream blush is also nice for it looks great on smooth skin after foundations. Stipple lightly on your cheeks and use a sponge to blend it in. Follow-up with a light dusting of translucent powder to set the cream and make it last the whole day.

mascara.jpgMascara is a must for eyes which gives more emphasis around the eyes. Curl your lashes before you apply them to give it more drama and life. If you tend to smudge the lower lids, stay away from them and focus on the upper lashes to minimize time spent on trying to perfect your eyes. Choose colors that are opposite the color of your eyes for contrasting colors work better. To get a smoky effect around your eyes apply a black line on the inside using a black pencil. If you use cream shadows on your eyes, use only on the lid and not on the creases so they don’t emphasize the creases and create a greasy mess.

eyes.jpgThe eyes are the most expressive parts of your face and can be used to highlight them taking attention away from other parts of the face. Use highlight shades under the eyebrows and near the tear duct area to create bright-eyed open eyes that speak a ton of words. Younger women can use shimmer shades while older women should stick to sheer and matte colors. These highlight shades come in many colors such as champagne, pink, white, vanilla, iridescent and gold. They give the eyes a seemingly unreal glow highlighting them and calling attention to them.

Caffeine. For some situations, drinking a moderate amount of caffiene seems to have no effect until you do it for several days.  If you can’t sleep and are not particularly anxious, think of how much caffienated drinks you’ve been having, including cola, tea and coffee.  Drinking less caffiene should fix the problem.

Sugar. Having a midnight snack that’s heavy in sugar will cause you to toss and turn because your blood sugar levels will be at an all-time high.  If you can’t sleep without a snack, replace your sweets with a sugar-free pastry.  But don’t eat a meal as this will also raise your blood sugar.

Too much exercise.  According to some research, people who exercise late at night have difficulty sleeping.  Try to schedule your workouts in the morning, late afternoon, or early evening.

After swimming in a chlorinated pool, rinse your hair with club soda as these will counter the adverse effects of chlorine.  You can also rinse your hair with clear water, and use a shampoo containing sodium thiosulfate afterwards.  This ingredient removes the odor and color of chlorine from your hair, which is important as chlorine causes hard metals in water like copper and iron to cause a green discoloration.  Shampoo with glycerin or aloe are also great as they function as a natural moisturizer that combats drying.  If the damage is so great that you experience hair breakage and severe dryness, get a hot oil treatment at a salon which will reduce and eliminate breaks up to six weeks.

There are many different ways to remove stray eyebrow hair.  Some women use wax, but this is tricky because it’s difficult to achieve an accurate shape.  The most common method is using tweezers.  If you want to get rid of your stray eyebrow hairs and achieve the perfect eyebrow, follow these tips.

Start from the inner corner of your eye, right above the tear duct and end at the outside corner above the eyelashes.  Ideally, eyebrows should have an arch but naturally, the arch is rarely where it should be. The arch should be over the iris, which is the colored part of your eye.  It should also be gentle to soften your features, so do the plucking very slowly, one hair at a time.  If you pluck it too hastily you might end up with a “surprised” look that will last for weeks until the hair grows back.

The condition of your hands depend on how well you take care of them. Most people don’t usually bother doing so until the palms of their hands become rough and calloused, or until a nail is cracked. You can take care of your hands by massaging them every now and then to stimulate blood circulation. Rub your palm over the back of your hands like you would wash your hands. Before going to bed, put on moisturizing lotion then wear a pair of cotton gloves. They should be very soft by the morning. Finally, get the habit of wearing rubber gloves whenever you have to clean up the house. The chemicals on cleaning agents can be rough on your nails and your hands. When nails are exposed to water, they swell then shrink back when they dry, which makes them more brittle with time.

When you shampoo your hair, you wash out and remove other impurities from your scalp and hair. To do this properly, brush your hair and remove the tangles before you start shampooing. This will prevent your hair from breaking or falling off due to tugging. It’s better to use warm water rather than hot water since warm water does the trick of effective cleansing.

The amount of shampoo you should use depends on your hair length. A dime sized dollop is enough for short hair; for medium hair, you need a nickle-sized amount. Salon shampoos are more concentrated than other commercially available shampoos so you should use smaller amounts of these.

Massage the shampoo in for three minutes, using slow circular motions. Follow it with a conditioner.

Here are several facial recipes you can try yourself and do at home.

Crush half a banana and add 2 tablespoons of sour cream and 1 tablespoon of honey. Place the mixture on your face and leave it on for ten minutes before wiping away gentle with a damp washcloth.

For a honey-based facial mask, mix together 1 1/2 tablespoons of honey, one egg white, 1/3 cup flour, and 2 tsp glycerin. Mix the honey, glycerin and eggwhite before adding the flour. You should end up with a thick paste. Apply on your face and rinse off after 15 minutes. This mask should moisturize your skin and make it smoother and tighter.

You can also get a slice from a ripe peach and rub it all over your face. Leave it on for twenty minutes before washing off. Another alternative is to take a whole peach, puree it using the blender before applying to your face.
